Cardiopulmonary emergency resuscitation by the general public

The thesis focuses on the problematic of providing cardiopulmonary emergency resuscitation by general public. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with identification of sudden cardiac arrest and most common causes of it. Furthermore, it deals with emergency resuscitation, first aid principles and emergency calls. Great emphasis is placed on the recommended practices for emergency resuscitation in adults and in child with cardiac arrest. Recommended practices focus, among other things, on the speciffic situations such as airway obstruction and drowning. The last theoretical part of thesis deals with the automated external defibrillator (further AED) and its operation by lay rescuer. The empirical part pursues two objectives. The first one is to map the knowledge of cardiopulmonary emergency resuscitation in adult patients. The second objective is to map the knowledge of cardiopulmonary emergency resuscitation in child patients. For the empirical part of the thesis the qualitative research in the form of semi-structured interviews was chosen. The research sample was made up of 8 non-selected members of the general public in the area of South Bohemian Region and Vysočina Region. Results were then categorized into 13 categories. Results show that questioned general public has significant shortcomings in recommended Basic life support practices. All questioned informants agreed they would welcome educational programs which would increase the knowledge of Basic life support practices of lay people.
Perception of own health by un-professional public

The thesis deals with the problem of general public's attitude to own health. Its aim consists in mapping the motivation towards one's own health, finding out the factors influencing human health and revealing the causes of passive attitude in relation to gender in smaller as well as larger groups of population. The theoretical part deals with the definition of health and introduces the basic overviews of theories related to health. Furthermore it provides the determinants with a significant impact on health - prevention and support of health. Special attention is paid to the quality of life and motivation, which are closely related to care for health.To examine the research issue quantitative method was selected. Necessary data was collected by a questionnaire enquiry. After the analysis of individual questions and complex evaluation, it could be concluded that although it is health problems which constitute the main incentive for a change of the life style of respondents, the main factors refraining people from care of their own health still consist in lack of motivation and willpower. The importance of the thesis consists in the awareness of the responsibility for our own health as well as the consequences of negligence towards the care for own health. Geographical literacy of general public

This thesis focuses on geographical literacy of the general public. It sets two main aims. Firstly to identify geographical community opinion on what knowledge and skills should be these days considered basics of geographical literacy for everyone regardless of their age and achieved education. Secondly to verify the selected basics of geographical literacy with the lay public. The structure of this work follows these aims. The theoretical part concentrates on the explanation of key words and the definition of geographical literacy in accordance with contemporary literature. The other part of the work presents the results of two researches of one's own. The first one was done in the form of an electronic questionnaire and addressed to the members of the geographical community. They firstly used a four-level scale to consider the importance of knowledge and skills that were verified in the research of the geographical literacy of adults in the USA. Secondly, in the form of open-answer questions, they could express their opinion on the core of the monitored assessment reference scope. Semiotic analysis of promotional materials of European Athletics Indoor Championships 2015

The subject of this thesis is the analysis of promotional materials of the sports event - European Indoor Championship in Athletics, which took place from 5 March to 8 March 2015 in Prague. For this purpose, the method of complex semiotic analysis is used. The thesis includes introduction into context. Theoretical background of chosen method is not omitted. In the thesis is explained the application of semiotic analysis to the selected problem. The main and secondary research questions are defined and there are specified the forms of promotion or types of media, on which are the partial semiotic analysis performed, too. This thesis is aimed on revelation differences in promotional materials of the event targeting the general or the professional public. For this reason, in the course of selecting the specific forms of promotion, which are included in the research, was paid attention on the similar characteristic of the pattern for each target group from the viewpoint of media mix. The "Simpson Affair" and the "Annus horribilis" Contribution to the Changes of the Picture of the British Royal Family in the General Public in the 20th Century

In this thesis the author analyses the changes in the view of the British Royal Family in general public during the 20th century. Given the extensiveness of the topic, the author focuses on two crisis situations - so called "Simpson Affair" - the abdication of King Edward VIII in 1936 and his relationship with divorced American Wallis Simpson, and so called "Annus Horribilis" - the divorce of the successor to the throne prince Charles and princess Diana Spencer. The author analyses changes in perception of the role of British Royal Family in life of British nation and its role within British general public. Author works with unpublished sources (mainly from the archive materials gathered from the sources of the Archive of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and the National Archives in London - Kew, with published sources and extensive specialized literature mostly from British provenience. Public Awareness of stroke risk factors

Eva Marková, Ph.D. Institute of Theory and Practice of Nursing 1st Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Prague Nowadays stroke represents a severe medical problem. It is the third most common reason for death and only 1/3 of the patients following this diagnosis can fully recover. This bachelor thesis shows the importance of public awareness about the risk factors of stroke. The purpose of this study was to figure out if the general public knows what a stroke is, what the risk factors are and how one can prevent and detect a stroke. In the experimental part of the study we focused on a quantity research with the help of a survey, which targeted the question of general awareness about stroke, its risk factors and its possible prevention. The used survey was self-produced. This study includes 145 participants, out of which 60 % were men and 40 % were women. Our results show, that the majority of the participants see smoking as the most severe risk factor in stroke and when it comes to prevention the majority suggests lowering the blood pressure. Archaeology and the public - the relationship of the science and the general

This diploma thesis deals with the relationship of archaeology and the general public in Czech Republic. The aim of the thesis is firstly the analysis and consequent evaluation of the current situation in presentation of Czech archaeology and secondly, the proposition of possible solutions of this situation. The thesis contains the theoretical parts besides the practical ones, which present the point of view of both general public and experts, on the ground of realized research of public opinion. Some of the chapters contain also foreign analogies, that have to serve as means to deeper understanding and demonstration of broader comunication possibilities between archaeologist and the public.
